Tikokino is a small town in Central Hawke's Bay

The Tikokino Pa was situated on the river terrace of the Waipawa river near the Mangahouhou Bush or Hampden Bush as it was later called. Tikokino townhship was orriginally known as Hampden. It was laid out between January and June 1860 by Charles Weber. 172 sections in a grid pattern with 8 streets in all. The land around the township was divided into small farms of less than 80 acres.
